Twitter, whether you get it or not, is a very valuable marketing resource. Personally, I dont see the draw, with all the social platforms on the web, why waste your time with Twitter. Time management is very important to me and Im not willing to spend productive hours tweeting, chirping, or trilling, I would rather be writing or chilling.

If you dont at least know what Twitter is, than an article about how to automate it, is a little past your current needs.

Current reports claim 6 million active users. AshtonKutcher(AplusK) currently has the most followers at 3,616,104. I actually saw a billboard that was promoting Ashton Kutcher's Twitter account once!

As an comparison my twitter account is ranked 10,100, with 5.5k followers...Ive only used free resources in its promotion and writing this article is the most involved Ive ever been.

People will voluntarily choose to be exposed to your marketing efforts ! It amazes me too, well the more followers you have the more impact your automation can have.

This is the only suggested tool that costs anything, it was free when I began using it but now costs 10.95 for a lifetime membership. The tool automatically follows people and in turn they follow you. I can credit most of my 5k plus account to this tool.

Scheduling your tweets is the most important aspect of the system. With Twaitter or Tweetlater you can write your tweet insert a shortened URL and schedule it to post daily at anytime..their are more detailed choices, for example only on weekends, or every other day..etc. I just do daily, you do as you wish.

Considering that most people arent staring at a twitter feed all day, its not likely that anyone will ever notice that your automated.

Dont include links in every tweet, try to seem natural

Spent an hour, using notepad, make a list of all your hubs with links, or articles or direct offers you get from affiliate programs..then write enticing questions with your link

As you get more advanced you can ReTweet to attract followers and use Hash marks in your tweets...but thats another article

Other Automation, automatic tweet options

You can also set up twitter feeds to auto tweet your articles and hubs from an rss feed, you can also integrate your Facebook account to create an update automatically. I dont recommend doing this to your family and friends, but its up to you. Perhaps you can integrate with a writer fan page or business page in your name

Although, You will be personally handling your tweets as little as possible under this system, when you do decide to create a tweet or in fact mange any of your social media promotions, which should all be integrated, a desktop application is a must.

TweetDeck is your primary choice, but check around the options to see whats best for you, i dont use any, I tried them all out, but once again, I spend my time writing, or enjoying myself...tweeting does not fit my time restraints. I dont suggest you bother either, just take advantage of your willing market.

Paid to Tweet, not much of an explanation needed, advertisers will pay you to tweet their promotions, the larger your market the more offers you will get, and the more they will pay you per tweet. I currently make between 6.00 and 10.00 per tweet.

This is a rather new service, I expect they will become more selective about who they accept in the future.

There are lots of methods to get followers, most involve manually following high profile accounts and expecting a manual or automatic refollow. This does work, but is to time intensive for my blood.

Hummingbird - which I linked above, will provide you with all the options I have explained, but it costs 97.00USD, I used a trial and was very impressed, all the reviews online say its worth every cent. If you find your twitter marketing taking off, its probably a very good investment.

Promoting via twitter leads to lots of clicks, but do the clickers convert? Well, thats all on how targetted your followers are (not very, using this method) so if your very good at your tweet copy, you should get interested people, dont try to be misleading and you will get a much better conversion.

I suggest promoting articles at Associated Content and The Examiner, because both reward based on impression, not just on actions.
