Many people have latex allergies, polyurethane or lambskin are the traditional alternatives.
Unfortunately, Polyurethane does not stretch and most major brands dont bother to make a model for the smaller market of the large size man and many males report sizing issues regardless of size. Female condoms may be a good alternative for this option.
Many Asian manafacturers make Polyurethane condoms in a variety of sizes, they can be found here.
Lambskin - is reportedly the most "natural" feeling, but lamb intestine isnt my idea of a good time (esp as a Vegetarian)..but regardless of my personal beliefs, lambskin is equally as effective for pregnancy prevention but is not considered effective for prevention of STD's. I have never found a large size lambskin condom, perhaps somebody can suggest a brand?

I am really glad I stumbled across this article, very interesting and valid points. Through general "man discussions" with friends, I was aware that I was probably larger than most, tho it's not like we would whip them out, and compare - so it is difficult to realistically compare the difference (especially girth wise).
Condoms were something I have struggled with until recently. For a while, I was using regular sized which I assumed was fine even if I was a bit bigger compared to the average. Standard condom sizes are boner killers. If you're thicker than average they'll squeeze you and you'll loose your erection. If the standard condom is about 4.5" around no wonder. Just wanted to say thanks, normal condoms always leave an indent in myself after sex... and it would be hard to stay, in the moment, because of the uncomfortable condom. I figured it was supposed to be this way... tomorrow I go magnum.
I was frequently breaking regular condoms. They were not as uncomfortable as others have reported but I'm further on the plus side of length than girth. Durability was the big issue, they held up for a quickie but that was about it. I'd bust several in my pursuit to bust one!

The Magnum is not indestructible. It has around a 30 minute time limit before I need to change but I have only broke one. I do find them to be more comfortable and they roll on much easier. I have not tried any other plus sizes but will try some of the ones listed because I have had complaints about the smell of the lubricant on the Magnum.

It's funny, I have an old maxim which explains the toilet paper roll measurement and I still neglected to try it. I have shocked some women with my package, mostly because I m a skinny short dude. When I was younger and did not care, I would let the woman in my life buy what ever condom she wanted. so... mines about 7 inches long and 5.75 girth. it says length doesnt matter but girth does, and 5.5 is magnum, 6 is XL. but theres three problems with this.
1. 5.75 is directly between 5.5 and 6 so i dont know which way to go

I've used both regular and Magnums and I feel like I'm in between. The standard ones are indeed too suffocating. The Magnums fit but feel like I need to be at full mast for them to be so. I wish I had seen this article when it was first published. I have had many of my sexual encounters in the last few years end in embarrassment or anti-climax because of condom related issues. Regular condoms have "worked" in the past (obviously), and I just figured everybody else experienced the same issues as me. I am also uncircumcised and that also makes unrolling the condom a little harder. Condoms have always been more than troublesome for me, but I never thought of trying a larger size until a few months ago.
Though I have had more than a dozen sexual partners, not one ever noticed (or at least mentioned) the above average girth of my penis (I was not aware of it either of course) until one partner fairly recently.
She very kindly pointed out that my penis might function better in a larger condom. It wasn't "wow, look how big you are," kind of thing, just a friendly suggestion, she could see how much difficulty I was having with the condom, and how quickly I would lose my erection after I finally got it on. I didn't believe her and said so. I thought she was just trying to make me feel better about my size (which I have typically believed to be small if anything). She handed me a magnum that she had got in a grab bag of condoms from the doctor's office and I was amazed at how easily it slid on. It felt secure but not so much so that it suffocated my erection. I still can't believe it took me this many years of sexual experience to figure it out.
I'm really not that large. My length I believe is statistically average, but I'm somewhere in Kinsey's 95 percentile girth-wise. I attribute my late realization of my need for larger sized condoms on our fixation on penis length. Almost all conversations about genital size have to do with how long the penis is. In my opinion, and seemingly the opinion's of all the women I have ever been with, the difference in appearance between a 5.25" girth and one 5.75-6" is much less apparent than the differences between a 5.5" and a 6.5" length measurement. Unless the penis is comparative to a coke can most women won't notice your girth.

Somebody needs to tell young teens about this because had I known it would have saved me a few trips to the clinic, a few dollars, and maybe a girlfriend or two.
As a side note; I too feel a little silly walking up to the counter with the gold box. I don't think they're larger sized (though I may be wrong), but the thin non-latex material is generally more giving and very comfortable. Unfortunately they have gold wrappers. I'm a caucasian about 6-7" in length, 6-1/2" in girth. My Ex-wife and I played with other couples from time to time. On rare occasions, we'd find a couple where the guy was uber long, sometimes uber thick, sometimes long and thick, and sometimes, not so much in either metric. For the better part, most of my counterparts were thinner, but longer than I am.
In cases where we'd go to our friends' homes to play, we'd use the condoms they had. If they had the regular condoms, I'd use them (there were no other larger options for me, that I knew of), but it was always a painful and chafing experience.
I don't recall when I started using Magnums, but once I did, things became much more enjoyable for everyone involved.
I've not tried an XL yet, and I'm still searching for that ever-elusive non-latex condom that won't suffocate my buddy. Magnum fits better, but I'm curious to know what an XL would feel like.

I did the whole wrap a string around and put it to a measuring tape and it said 6" bang on. i have used the regular magnums for sometime now but i still have the problem of getting soft. Mind you when i was younger i did watch alot of porn so that might be the cause. Should i use the XL if i'm measuring 6" in girth but only 7.5" long? The regular magnums already have to much excess but they are tight...Anyone know a custom condom maker?
